About brand GUERLAIN
guerlain
GUERLAIN is a French perfume house with 175 years of business history.
Guerlain House was founded in 1828 by Pierre François Pascal Guerlain.
Guerlain always used luxury and rare ingredients such as French vanilla or his own Kananga planted in the Comoro Islands for perfumes. In addition, GUERLAIN is one of the innovators in the use of synthetic materials.
This company was one of the most successful companies of that time, which made a perfume for Napoleon III, Emperor of France and his wife, which was known as the official perfume of His Majesty.
After that, he made a special perfume for Queen Victoria of England and Queen Isabella of Spain.
After the death of Guerlain's founder, his son Aimé Guerlain became the perfumer and main owner of this company. His famous perfume was Jiki, which was produced in 1889, and it was the first modern perfume of that time.
He is the creator of Guerlinade and is used as a Guerlain brand to create different perfumes. His niece, Jacques, Mr. Beau worked at Guerlain perfume house too. He produced some of the house's best-known perfumes, including L'Heure Bleue (1912), Mitsouko (1919) and Shalimar (1925).
Jean-Paul Guerlain, the grandson of Jacques Guerlain, helped him for the first time and then produced his first solo perfume, The famous Vetiver (1959).
In 1864, with the death of Pierre Francis Guerlain, managing this company was handed over to his sons, Aimee and Gabriel Guerlain. Expanding this company was the responsibility of Gabriel Guerlain and Amy Guerlain, the master of perfumery in GUERLAIN. After these, the administration of Guerlain went to the sons of Gabriel, Jaques and Pierre. Jacques Guerlain became the third master perfumer of the company after his grandfather and uncle, and designed many of the brand's most famous classic fragrances that are still famous today, such as Shalimar and Mitsuko.
Jacques Guerlain designed his latest perfume, ode, in collaboration with his grandson, Jean-Paul Guerlain. Jean Paul was the last generation of this family who managed GUERLAIN and was a master perfumer.
Guerlain was a family perfume house until 1994, when it was bought by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH). In 2002, the Guerlain family legacy ended with the retirement of Jean-Paul Guerlain, although he worked there as a consultant. Thierry Wasser took this position at Guerlain in 2008.
Now the Guerlain company has more activity than before in the field of perfumery and luxury cosmetics.
