In 1915 a 19-year-old boy named Thomas Lyle Williams noticed that his sister was mixing carbon dust with vaseline and applying it to her eyelashes. Thomas was a chemist. He came up with an interesting idea which we call it MASCARA today.

After he achieved good success in the production of this product, he decided to started a company in America and in 1917, in honor of his sister name(Mable), who somehow caused such an idea, he named his own brand MAYBELLINE.

After some time, Maybelline's first mascara, which was called automatic eye makeup, became very famous because of its quick and easy application. At that time, this mascara, was one of the first modern makeup products designed for women's daily makeup. Shortly after the production of this MAYBELLINE mascara, it attracted the attention of most women, and they consider this product very suitable for their makeups, and they line up in shops and pharmacies to buy it.

Thomas, this 19-year-old boy who managed to make history in the big cosmetics industry and caused a new evolution in eye makeup.

MAYBELLINE cosmetics factory was sold to other companies 2 times in these years until 1991 when it was included under the famous French brand L'Oreal.
