About brand Body Shop
Body Shop
The original Body Shop was opened in 1970 by Peggy Short and Jane Saunders, a shop with dark green walls that sold skin products and custom fragrances.
They filled their products in very simple and handwritten bottles, and customers who returned the empty containers received a discount.
In 1976, Anita Roddick opened her own beauty and health store called the body shop in Brighton, and her motivation was very simple: to organize her life and her 2 daughters while her husband was away.
This store started its business with 25 products, it used to buy urine test bottles from hospitals and fill and sell its products in these bottles.
But the problem was that there were not enough of these bottles and on the other hand Roddick did not do much advertising for her business.
In 1977, he opened another shop in partnership with Gordon, and this was the beginning of the growth of this small business. In 1984, the business had 138 stores, 87 of them were not in UK.
In 1987, Roddick offered 3.5 million dollars to the owners of the original body shop, Peggy Short and Jane, to get the exclusive rights of this business, they agreed and changed the name of their business to body time in 1982.
this company currently has a wide range of 1000 products sold in about 3000 stores in the world.
