1856: Thomas Burberry founded this brand in Basingstoke at the age of 21, based on the principle that clothes should be designed to protect people from the British weather.
1879: Thomas invented gabardine fabric. A breathable, waterproof and resistant fabric for rainy clothes, which until then was very heavy and uncomfortable. Gabardine was registered in 1888
1893: Dr.Fridtjof Nansen, a Norwegian polar explorer, zoologist and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, is the first person to wear gabardine to the pole while traveling to the Arctic Circle.
1908: Edward Maitland, wears gabardine and travels to Russia.
1912: Tielocken coat designed by Thomas, which closes with a buckle and has only one button in the collar, and its name was: Trench coat.
1913: Burberry had been in London since 1891 and now moved to a larger place in London designed by an architect named Walter Cave.
1920:Now Burberry check fabric, is a fashion trend mark, it was introduced that year as a lining for raincoats.
1934: Burberry offers one-day delivery in London with a special vehicle.
1955: Queen Elizabeth II gives Burberry a royal sign with the title of water proof clothes.
1965: Out of every 5 coats in Britain, one was Burberry product.
1972: Burberry officially launched a factory in Castleford which has a legacy that continues to this day.
1999: The new logo was designed by art director Fabien Baron.
2000: Opening of the first store on Bond Street
